I’m Diane , founder of North Star Genealogy — a business name inspired by my late father, whose incredible sense of direction shaped both my childhood and my calling. He always told me, “If you feel lost, look for the North Star and you’ll find your way home.” Today, I help others find their way through their family history using thoughtful research, workshops, and personalised guidance. North Star Genealogy is my way of honouring his memory and helping you discover the stories that guide you home.

Workshops
My all-day workshops are designed for small, friendly groups of 20–40, held in welcoming village halls or similar venues. A range of workshops are available, from beginner sessions on getting started, to more focused topics such as Northern Ireland research, and advanced workshops where I share practical tricks to help you avoid common mistakes and make faster progress in your own research.
In the morning, I share insights and tips from decades of experience, and in the afternoon, participants work in small groups on interactive activities, quizzes, and hands-on exercises. Each day concludes with a question-and-answer session, giving you the chance to explore your own questions in a supportive, engaging environment.

I am a foundling and was born in the early 70’s. I knew nothing of my start in life but had a wonderful childhood with the parents that chose me. It wasn’t until after they died that I found some paperwork and wanted to know more. With Diane’s research skills, in 2025 she found newspaper reports and located the people that found me and saved my life. I have now had the opportunity to thank them, find out the true circumstances of my birth and see a photograph of myself at 1 day old. I can’t thank her enough. I am finally able to piece together some of the gaps in my history. Forever grateful.
